LSU Press author Dr. Lawrence Powell recently spoke at a commemoration event for Homer J. Plessey, one of the unsung heroes of the Civil Rights Movement. Mr. Plessey was instrumental in the battle to challenge the constitutionality of the "seperate but equal" laws that were put into place during the Reconstruction.
