Louisiana State University Press poet John H. Stone will be inducted into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame this spring at the University of Georgia in Athens.
In 2000, the University of Georgia Libraries established the Hall of Fame program to recognize Georgia writers, past and present, "for outstanding writing, and in recognition of an enduring contribution to the study and understanding of the state of Georgia—its history, its culture, its people."
Stone’s poetry collections include In All This Rain (1980), Renaming the Streets (LSU Press, 1985), and Music from Apartment 8: New and Selected Poems (LSU Press, 2004), among others. He is also the author of the prose collection In the Country of Hearts: Journeys in the Art of Medicine (LSU Press, 1996).
In addition to his literary career as a writer of prose and poetry, Stone is a cardiologist and former associate dean at Emory University Medical School in Atlanta.
