Louisiana and Regional General Interest

I am seeking quality projects relevant to Louisiana or the greater Gulf South region written for a lay readership. Focus areas include but are not limited to:
cultural studies
literary heritage
World War II
Guidebooks and reference works are especially welcome. Nonfiction children's books with a regional link will be considered. If unsure, please query me by e-mail.

Environmental Studies
Being at the center of the U.S. Gulf South and with the nation’s largest river emptying at our front door, Louisiana shoulders concern and responsibility for the greater region’s geographical and environmental well-being——present, past, and future. Landscape Architecture
Combining design and science in the service of both natural and urban settings, landscape architecture is essential to society. With one of the country’s leading and consistently top-ranked landscape architecture programs, now more than 60 years old, LSU advances a far-reaching perspective in scope and application.

Submission Guidelines
Please do not send a full manuscript unsolicited. Rather, send a book proposal, preferably by regular mail that includes:
1. A descriptive summary of the project, including: its aim; its market; its expected length by word count and its expected date of completion; number and type of illustrations (e.g., maps, photographs, line drawings, etc.); the author and title of similar or competing books and an explanation of how your project differs; and ways you can help promote your book
2. Table of Contents and a sample chapter or two, or another published writing sample
3. A current bio or resume, including your physical mailing address and e-mail address
4. Examples of illustrations to be included, if applicable (photocopies are fine, or a drive or disk of high resolution images for fine photography)

About Me
I have been with LSU Press since 1991, as a copyeditor, advertising manager, publicist, marketing manager, and, since 2006, acquisitions editor. I've also held editorial positions at G. P. Putnam's Sons and Clarion Books, in New York City, and attended the Denver Publishing Institute. University and children's library services in Columbia, Missouri, and Little Rock, Arkansas, round out my biblio-occupations, which, looking back, I think began with editing the high school year book or maybe my second-grade poem about wanting to be a librarian!
