Editorial support

  • Fund The Natural World of the Gulf South series ($250,000)
    • LSU Press continues its strong commitment to understanding Louisiana and the Gulf South's unique and vital environmental issues by expanding its list in environmental studies. The range of issues of concern to our region encompasses coastal erosion and restoration; oil exploration and deep-water drilling; the Mississippi River, including flooding and levees; agriculture; the fishing industry; and environmental law.
  • Fund From Our Own Correspondent, a series of classic reprints in media studies ($50,000)
    • LSU Press's award-winning list in media studies includes this series illuminating the development of foreign news gathering. It features forgotten works and previously unpublished memoirs by pioneering foreign correspondents.
  • Provide a named endowment to support publication in history ($250,000)
    • LSU Press's reputation for publications in southern history is unsurpassed. Our history titles have won hundreds of prizes.
  • Sponsor the Yellow Shoe Fiction series ($2,000-$5,000 per year)
    • LSU Press gained national recognition for its fiction in 1980 with the publication of A Confederacy of Dunces, which won a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. The Press has continued to seek out and publish the best in fiction, most recently through our Yellow Shoe Fiction series, edited by Michael Griffith.
  • Support poetry publishing ($150,000)
    • Poetry is an integral part of the Press's list and one for which we've won national awards, including three Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry.

  • Support prize submissions ($2,000 per year)
    • We submit our books for an average of 150 prizes each year, and we have an impressive record for winning major awards.
  • Digitize the Press's backlist ($250,000)
